SOLID
TIMBER FLOORING OVERLAY
The use of
Solid Timber allows Northern Suburbs Timber Flooring to ensure the
structural integrity is kept when overlaying existing flooring -
floor joists and sheet flooring.
DIRECT
TO CONCRETE
The direct
fixing method of gluing solid timber to concrete is an exciting
innovation, involving specially machined flooring timber.
Available species are Southern Oak, Tasmanian Oak, Victorian
Ash, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and Grey Gum. Widths range from 60mm, 80mm, 85mm, 89mm cover by 19mm
thickness, depending on the specie chosen. Specially formulated
Polyurethane adhesives are used in this process.

PLYWOOD
BASE OVER CONCRETE
Using this
method, a plywood sheet floor is fixed to the concrete slab over a
.200um polythene moisture barrier. The floorboards are then fixed
to the plywood base by secret nailing. This method has a total
profile depth of about 34mm for the 19mm thick flooring.
BATTEN
SYSTEM OVER CONCRETE
This
method is a series of timber battens fixed with masonry anchors to
the concrete slab, over polythene sheeting at a spacing to suit
the particular flooring product used. Solid timber tongue and
grooved floorboards are then fixed to the battens. One method has
a total profile depth of 54mm wide boards, 19mm thick.
Another
is a cost efficient 19mm batten for a total floor height of 38mm.
A sill may be required at the junction between the boards and
lower profile flooring products (Carpet/Ceramic Tiles) used in the
building. In a new building this difference can be more easily
accommodated through a set down in the concrete.
